Now, of the four major sports, the one I follow a little less than the others is the Bruins. Not that I don't enjoy a good hockey tussel now and again, it is just that I have grown accostumed to the vagaries of life as a Bruin fan. I have learned that being a Bruin fan is being much like and NBA fan prior to the new Celtics regime...just have to watch the last two minutes. Same with the Bruins....all you need to do is check in for the last 20 games and that's all you need.
The B's may seem like they are in a free fall...but in reality, they are really showing their true identity at the moment. They are a collection of guys that have been hurt and, just when they get started, they have to get to know each other again because someone else is hurt. Case in point - how many team go through three centers or sign a guy that is 35 and hasn't played the entire year. That is a recipe for a lottery team.
Oh sure, the B's have disappointed, but let's look at why our hopes from last year were let down - not poor play (though they surely can do better at scoring), but lack of cohesion. If they could ever get the entire group back for a solid 15 to 20 games, then, THEN, we can make an assessment.
So for all of you who liken them to a Sunday morning over forty league, or think they should trade Dennis Wideman, or hope they trade a high pick for a Kovalev type player, hold off a bit. This might turn out to be a forgottable season...but it is not lost. There's lots of reason to hope for the future....and they just might catch lightning in a bottle.
